In the Abai region, more than 4,959 hectares of unused agricultural land have been returned to state ownership. Of these, 4,694 hectares are pastureland and around 264 hectares are other unused land.

According to the press service of the regional akimat, the bulk of the land was returned in three districts: Aksuat (13 plots — 3,915 ha), Beskaragai (3 plots — 304.2 ha) and Zharma (5 plots — 740 ha). Overall, by the end of 2025, the Abai region plans to return 170,000 ha.

It emerged that last year, against a planned 110,000 ha, the region returned 121,100 ha (256 plots). These included 114,800 ha of pastureland, 4,500 ha of fallow arable land, and 1,800 ha of other unused land.

To date, the regional authorities have sent data on 114 plots covering 644,100 ha to the land resources management department for further return to state ownership.

It is noted that, from 2022 to 2024, 107,900 ha of returned land and a further 54,600 ha of land belonging to the population were brought into agricultural use.

Recall that last November, it was reported that executive bodies had exceeded the 2024 target ahead of schedule, returning over 2 million ha of land to state ownership.
