On the public procurement portal, a lot has appeared for the purchase of two 12-rope yurts with a total cost of 9 million tenge. For each structure, they are prepared to pay 4.7 million tenge — this is only for the yurt itself, without furniture and national decoration.
According to the Telegram channel "They've already come for us", the technical documentation describes the parameters in detail: from weight and height to the angle of the elements. Such precise specifications may raise questions — whether they were drawn up for a specific supplier. However, these are merely journalists' conjectures.
It is reported that this is not an isolated case. In the spring, in Taiynsha, they also planned to purchase a similar yurt for 8.9 million, but the purchase eventually went through for 6.3 million tenge.
Colleagues analysed 12-rope yurts purchased through the public procurement portal during May and June. In four cases, the amount was significantly lower than stated:
- Abai District House of Culture — 2 million tenge;
- Urzhar Children's Social Services Centre — 1.2 million tenge (against an initial price of 2 million);
- School-lyceum No. 95 in Astana — 1.8 million tenge (out of 2.6 million);
- Youth Resource Centre of Almaty Region — 1.6 million tenge.
Against the backdrop of other completed purchases, where the cost of one 12-rope yurt ranged from 1.2 to 2 million tenge, the stated price of 4.7 million per unit raises legitimate questions.
Similar questions regarding the spending of budget funds arise in different regions. For example, the Almaty Municipal Infrastructure Development Department purchased more than 5,000 new street bins for about 300 million tenge, which caused discontent among residents on social media.
Earlier, the FBRK editorial team reported that in Atyrau, residents complained about the implementation of the "100 Yards" project. As part of the project, 54 benches were installed in one yard in a single row, while in another yard there were more road signs than residents themselves.
These cases stand in stark contrast to the calls by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, for total savings of budget funds and spending them only on solving the most pressing tasks.
