The KNB has responded to a complaint from Mazhilis deputy Yermurat Bapi regarding the dissemination on social media of materials that promote the family of former president Nursultan Nazarbayev.
According to media reports, in November 2024, at a plenary session of the Mazhilis, deputy Yermurat Bapi raised the issue of the promotion of the ex-president's daughter on social networks.
"Recently, a video praising the former Chair of the Senate of Parliament, Dariga Nazarbayeva, has been circulating on social media. If her 'human virtues' truly surpassed those of others, no one would argue. However, we cannot forget that Ms. Dariga recently held the second most important political position in the country. Therefore, this should be seen as political manipulation aimed at glorifying the former regime", said the Mazhilis member.
As reported by Ulysmedia.kz, Yermurat Bapi sent an official request to the head of the KNB and the Minister of Culture and Information on this matter.
According to the deputy, such actions should be seen as political manipulation. The Mazhilis member called for finding the source of the destructive information.
The KNB, for its part, clarified that since the beginning of the year, the agency has identified 330 internet users who were distributing illegal content, including calls for mass unrest. Of these, 29 people were brought to criminal responsibility, 30 to administrative responsibility, and preventive talks were held with the rest.
"However, it should be noted that the majority of distributors of politically provocative information on the internet remain anonymous and, as a rule, are registered on foreign platforms. This creates certain difficulties in finding and identifying them", the KNB reported.
It is noted that the agency took the stated facts into account and promised to continue working in this direction.
