The company managing returned assets has put up for sale a house located in the capital district of Nura. The auction will take place on 25 February. The starting price of the property is 1.8 billion tenge, and the guarantee deposit is 117.9 million tenge.

According to Informburo.kz, photographs of the house in the lot description match the footage published by the National Security Committee after the detention of the former chairman of the agency, Karim Masimov.

"During the investigation, numerous signs of corruption offences were established in the actions of the former committee chairman, including law enforcement officers documenting instances of illegally obtaining real estate property", the statement reads.

For context, in April 2023, Karim Masimov was sentenced to 18 years in prison for high treason, attempting to forcibly seize power, abuse of power, and exceeding official authority.

It was also reported that in March 2024 he submitted a clemency petition to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, but the head of state refused his request.
