The Passenger Transport and Highways Department of the Karaganda Region has denied information about poor maintenance of the Nura – Osakarovka highway.
As a reminder, earlier the editorial board of the FBK received video materials, presumably filmed on the regional road "Nura – Osakarovka" in the Karaganda Region.
The footage shows violations in the maintenance of road signs and barriers: missing signs, incorrect installation of existing ones, and the presence of outdated signposts.
We sent an official request to the Passenger Transport and Highways Department of the Karaganda Region asking for a comment on the video.
According to the department, some road signs were damaged as a result of drivers violating traffic rules.
It is noted that the contractor promptly restored the damaged elements of the road infrastructure at its own expense. All road signs on the highway have been installed in accordance with the project documentation.
The department also emphasised that this year they plan to bring the road signs into compliance with regulatory requirements.
We assume this will improve safety on the highway and minimise the risk of road traffic accidents.
It is important to note that maintaining road infrastructure is a shared responsibility of road services and road users, who are obliged to observe traffic rules and treat road infrastructure elements with care.
