An employee of the Department of State Revenue of the Mangystau Region has been suspended from duty for placing bets with a bookmaker.
As reported by Lada.kz, citing the Department of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs, a service investigation has been launched into the matter.
"The civil servant registered as a player with Netbet LLP on 15.08.2020. Between 25.12.2023 and 13.12.2024, cash in the amount of 56,500 tenge was deposited into the gambling account and a withdrawal of 70,550 tenge was made", the department reported.
The disciplinary commission of the regional state revenue department reviewed the investigation results and recommended that the employee be dismissed from their post.
"The fact that the civil servant participated in gambling by topping up a gambling account and withdrawing funds, both before the amendments to the Law 'On Combating Corruption' restricting participation in gambling came into force, and after he himself had accepted anti-corruption restrictions, has been confirmed. Due to these circumstances, the civil servant has been dismissed from their position by order of the department head for violating the requirements of the legislation on civil service and anti-corruption restrictions", the department said.
