The specialised inter-district criminal court of the Zhetysu region has pronounced a verdict against the head of the Taldykorgan education department, Zh. Zholdykhanov.
According to the press service of the Anti-Corruption Agency, he was found guilty of receiving a bribe of 280 million tenge from the chief accountant of the same department. The bribe was intended for "covering up facts of embezzlement of budgetary funds and failing to dismiss from work".
As a result, Zholdykhanov was sentenced to 11 years in prison with a lifetime ban from holding positions in the civil service. It is reported that the hearings were held with the participation of the convicted man's colleagues.
Recall that earlier in the Zhetysu region, the Anti-Corruption Agency completed an investigation into other officials of the Taldykorgan education department.
