At the "New Annex" cemetery in Ust-Kamenogorsk, instances of disrespect for the memory of the deceased have been uncovered. During the construction of a public toilet, grave crosses were used.

According to Yk-news.kz, the crosses may have been taken from abandoned or old burial sites.

People have expressed outrage, calling what happened a display of extreme disrespect for the memory of the dead. Journalists have sent inquiries to the cemetery administration asking for an explanation of the situation.

For context, in April last year in Shymkent, three officials were convicted for embezzling 28 million tenge allocated for the upkeep of cemeteries.
