In the West Kazakhstan Region, the guilt of two defendants in committing fraudulent actions has been proven.
According to the press service of the regional prosecutor's office, the fraudulent developers used deceptive schemes to obtain money from citizens, with no intention of fulfilling their obligations.
It is reported that the criminals placed advertisements on the internet and offered services for the construction of townhouses.
"Creating the appearance of entrepreneurial activity, the wrongdoers, without having any land plots for building townhouses, received money from clients and subsequently instilled in trusting citizens a sense of confidence in the fulfilment of the construction contract", the statement reads.
After receiving the money, the developers promised to build the desired housing within the deadlines set by the contract, but in reality did nothing, continuing to mislead the victims. As a result, the damage to 32 victims amounted to 490,888,000 tenge.
The defendants did not admit guilt in court, citing the existence of some civil-law relations with the victims.
The court found the defendants guilty and sentenced them to 6 and 7 years in prison. At the same time, the full amount of damages caused was recovered from the convicted persons in favour of the victims.
As previously reported, in the Kostanay region, due to violations in the field of public procurement, a dishonest contractor returned almost 90 million tenge to the state.
In September, it became known that in the village of Novonezhinka, Auliekolsky district of the Kostanay region, schoolchildren are forced to study in a half-renovated building due to the fault of a dishonest contractor.
In June, it was reported that two years ago in Almaty, work began on reconstructing the exhibition greenhouse on the territory of the botanical garden, but the contractors never finished the work. The management of the site is now looking for sponsors to complete the reconstruction of the greenhouse.
