In the Kaskalinsky district of West Kazakhstan region, a former police officer beat a local resident to death. According to some reports, the suspect is a former SOBR employee.
As reported by Zakon.kz, the regional police department noted that at the time of the crime, he was no longer serving in the force.
“The West Kazakhstan region police department has detained a suspect for inflicting grievous bodily harm on a man in the village of Taskala, as a result of which he died in a medical facility. It has been established that the incident occurred following a verbal altercation. The detainee is a former police officer who was dismissed from the internal affairs department on negative grounds”, the police department reported.
The suspect has been remanded in custody. A pre-trial investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, journalists reported on another incident involving law enforcement officers. It emerged that on 16 November, an inspector from the patrol police battalion in Taraz accidentally shot a colleague with his service weapon.
The press service of the Zhambyl region police department stated that the injured officer survived.
“While patrolling the assigned area in a service vehicle, due to careless handling of a weapon, one officer accidentally shot another in the back. A criminal case has been opened on charges of negligence resulting in serious consequences through carelessness. The victim has been hospitalised in the Kordai district hospital”, the department commented.
Officers are conducting an internal investigation, and all the circumstances of the incident are being established.
