The National Security Committee (NSC) has reported the detention in Turkey of the former head of Astana LRT LLP, Talgat Ardan.

According to the press service of the agency, in September 2019, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan sent a request to the Turkish Ministry of Justice for the extradition of Talgat Ardan, who had been placed on the international wanted list.

"In connection with this, the competent authorities of the Republic of Turkey carried out the relevant search operations. This year, the NSC established his exact whereabouts, after which the Turkish law enforcement agencies detained him in Antalya", the statement reads.

On May 9, the Antalya court ordered Ardan's deportation to Kazakhstan, and he is currently being held in custody. Kazakh authorities have initiated legal procedures to return the detainee to his homeland.

It will be recalled that in 2021, seven defendants were convicted in the case of embezzlement during the implementation of the Astana LRT project. The former deputy mayor of the capital, Kanat Sultanbekov, and the former head of the Astana LRT company, Talgat Ardan, were placed on the international wanted list.
