A verdict has been delivered in Astana regarding the embezzlement of 8.5 billion tenge from a subsidiary of Samruk-Energy JSC.
According to the capital's court press service, these funds were intended for the construction of a 50 MW wind power station in Yereymentau.
"The embezzlement was carried out through the conclusion of fictitious contracts and the transfer of funds via affiliated companies", the statement said.
Meanwhile, the Telegram channel «Nege.Aqsha» reports that the defendants in the dock were former deputy of the East Kazakhstan regional maslikhat Yelena Belentseva and lawyer Daniyar Mergenbayev.
According to the investigation, in October 2021, Belentseva also entered into a contract with a certain JSC for the supply of transformer substations, which she failed to fulfil. As a result, the company suffered damages in excess of 157 million tenge.
Ultimately, the court found Belentseva guilty and sentenced her to 8 years and 6 months in prison, as well as stripping her of her state award – the Order of «Kurmet». Mergenbayev was sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison.
The civil claim of the Samruk-Energy subsidiary was partially satisfied – over 8.5 billion tenge and 3 million tenge in court costs were recovered. The remainder of the claim was left without consideration.
