Father Sherzat Polat was detained during the funeral

Submitted by Вера Александрова on

The Polat family case from the Talgar district continues to stir public opinion. Another dramatic episode occurred on 10 December in the village of Azat, where the funeral of Nurganat Gaepbayev — the uncle of the deceased 16-year-old Sherzat Polat — was taking place.

The mourning ceremony turned into an emotional expression of protest, which ended in detention

According to some media outlets, Karzhaubai Nurymov, Sherzat's father, in a state of extreme emotional distress, climbed onto the roof of a lorry with a knife and threatened to take his own life

The man demanded a meeting with journalists and a fair investigation into the deaths of his son and brother. His aggressive behaviour, including outbursts directed at police officers, forced law enforcement to intervene. As a result, Karzhaubai Nurymov received 15 days' arrest for minor hooliganism.

The detention of Mr Nurymov, according to police data, was carried out with minimal use of force.

The incident also affected other relatives of Nurganat Gaepbayev. It is reported that they made harsh accusations against the authorities and called for protests, which led to detentions and administrative penalties.

In particular, the court arrested one of Karzhaubai Nurymov's cousins — Bakhyt Reimova for 15 days for violating the law on assemblies and decided on her deportation from the country, as she is not a citizen of Kazakhstan. Another relative — Saltanat Nurumova — was fined for hooliganism.

Law enforcement agencies emphasise that their actions in the current situation are aimed solely at maintaining order and preventing potential threats to those around them.

The events in the village of Azat have once again laid bare the tragedy and tension surrounding the case of Sherzat Polat.

To recall, the teenager died from a knife wound during a mass brawl in Talgar. Sherzat's death sparked a wave of public outrage and a series of tragic events in the family: the arson of a house where relatives lived, and later — the mysterious death of Nurganat Gaepbayev, which the investigation is treating as suicide.

It is necessary, however, to remember that, despite the depth of human loss, compliance with the law remains obligatory for everyone. Even in the most tragic circumstances, it is important to avoid actions that could endanger the safety of others.

The investigation into the deaths of Sherzat Polat and Nurganat Gaepbayev continues under the close scrutiny of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office.

Our editorial team sincerely hopes that the investigative authorities will identify all those involved in these tragic events as quickly as possible. However, justice can only be achieved if all parties act strictly within the framework of the law.
