Karzhauabay Nurymov, the father of the deceased 16-year-old Sherzat, has decided to donate the entire amount of compensation received from the convicted individuals to children in need

The man stated that he does not wish to accept money associated with the tragedy and intends to direct it towards charitable purposes, reports CMN.KZ, citing the family's lawyer, Meirman Shekeyev.

"I don't need the money. The main thing is that they do not defame my child. My duty is to protect my son's honour," Karzhauabay Nurymov's lawyer relayed his words.

Nevertheless, as Meirman Shekeyev explained, compensation for moral harm was sought from the convicted individuals at the insistence of the defence

The lawyer emphasised: from a legal standpoint, paying compensation is a mandatory condition for filing a petition for parole (UDO). It was only in this context that the family agreed to demand compensation — not for personal gain, but as an element of a principled legal stance.

For context, in Taldykorgan, the trial concerning the high-profile murder of 16-year-old Sherzat Polat has concluded. Nine people received sentences ranging from one and a half to 23 years for murder, attempted murder, hooliganism, theft, and failure to report a crime.

By court order, the total amount of moral compensation to the victim's relatives amounted to 120 million tenge. 60 million tenge was recovered from the main defendant found guilty of murder. Compensation of 30 million tenge was ordered from the second defendant in the murder case. The remaining convicted individuals, jointly with one of the main figures, must pay an additional 30 million tenge for committing acts of hooliganism.

The court also issued a special ruling, drawing the prosecutor's attention to possible indications of a crime in the actions of four witnesses.
