Since the beginning of the year, police have detained 14 offenders who posed as law enforcement officers.

According to Polisia.kz, in November in Shymkent, a group of people, posing as police officers and promising protection, received up to  1.5 million tenge monthly from gullible citizens.

In Aktobe, two young men, posing as police officers and using violence, stole 300,000 tenge from city residents.

In Konayev, officers of the Department for Combating Organised Crime detained two offenders who, posing as detectives, extorted 500,000 tenge from a local resident in exchange for not disseminating compromising information. Counterfeit service IDs, documents, and uniforms were seized from the suspects.

“Public awareness and vigilance can significantly reduce the number of such crimes. In this regard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs strongly recommends that, in the event of any illegal actions by individuals claiming to be law enforcement officers, you immediately report this to the police. Preventive work in this direction continues.”, – noted Kuandyk Alpys, a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Department for Combating Organised Crime.

Recall that in April in Shymkent, offenders were detained who posed as police officers and, using force against citizens, took a large sum of money.

In March, Majilis deputy Unzila Shapak reported that in 2023, the amount of stolen funds and loans taken out in citizens' names by fake police officers and fake bankers amounted to  21 billion tenge.

In September in Uralsk, police detained a group of people who were posing as law enforcement officers. Using violence, they extorted 500,000 tenge from a student at one of the educational institutions.
