The Akimat of the Karatau district of Shymkent attempted to purchase 225 rubbish bins for a total of 14.5 million tenge. The price per bin was 64 thousand tenge.

According to Vera.kz, the local Anti-Corruption Service identified this procurement and recommended officials cancel it.

In addition to the district akimat, the state-run nursery-kindergarten No. 65 "Balbulak" in Shymkent also inflated its procurement prices. The institution sought to purchase 500 packs of photocopier paper for 2 million tenge. The planned expenditure per pack was 4 thousand tenge

"Following the Anti-Corruption Service's recommendations, the preschool reduced the procurement volume to 100 packs, and were then ready to purchase each for 1,880 tenge. In the end, savings amounted to 1.8 million tenge. We pass such lots through the 'Single Procurement Window' system, which automatically signals overpricing," said Alexey Koloskov, First Deputy Head of the Anti-Corruption Service.

Recall that earlier it was reported that in the Pavlodar region, LLP "Ai-Su Melioratsiya" inflated the cost of supplied equipment. Additionally, local prosecutors identified discrepancies between construction and installation works and the certificates of completed work amounting to 79 million tenge.
