The Supreme Judicial Council reported that in Kazakhstan, 40 judges have been brought to disciplinary responsibility. The majority of them are district-level specialists.
As reported by 24.kz, citing the department, the main reasons were errors in case handling, non-compliance with professional ethics, and improper performance of duties.
It became known that over the course of a year, the Supreme Judicial Council received around 2,000 appeals concerning disagreement with judges' decisions or judicial acts.
"A judge may be held disciplinarily liable: first, for gross violation of legality in the consideration of court cases and materials; second, for committing an offence inconsistent with judicial ethics. Court chairs and heads of judicial panels – for improper performance of official duties directly stipulated by the constitutional law on the judicial system and the status of judges," explained Nurzhan Kaiypzhan, Chairman of the Judicial Jury under the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
