Antikor said that the akim of the Ili district of the Almaty region, Bagdat Karasayev, is being accused of the following.
"He is suspected of abusing his official powers by transferring the right of trust management of the solid household waste landfill to a company affiliated with him, in violation of fire safety requirements and without permission from the sanitary-epidemiological control authorities.", the department's press service said.
Furthermore, he is suspected of exceeding his official powers by illegally extending the term of the trust management of the landfill. He also involved the heads of the district departments of finance and housing and communal services in the criminal scheme.
It is noted that the company did not fulfil the waste disposal obligations stipulated in the contract. As a result, damage to the region's ecology was caused in the amount of 204 million tenge. By court order, the suspect has been taken into custody.
