A sentence has been handed down in Astana in the case of organising the financial pyramids "Zhuldyzai" and "Ayauym".
According to the press service of the AFM, the suspects portrayed themselves on social media as successful entrepreneurs and offered a scheme for quick earnings supposedly from participating in tenders.
The minimum investment amount started from 1 million tenge, and the promised profit exceeded 90% over 40 days. Additionally, participants received 10% of the amount from each investor they brought in. As a result, 60 people were drawn into the financial pyramid, with total damages exceeding 490 million tenge.
It emerged that one of the suspects used the investors' money to purchase an apartment in an elite residential complex in the capital worth 69.5 million tenge and registered it in her mother-in-law's name.
Then, upon learning of the investigation, to conceal it from possible confiscation, she re-registered the property to a third party. Despite this, the investigation proved the transaction was fictitious, and the apartment was seized by court order.
During the investigation, the suspects compensated the victims for damages amounting to 72 million tenge.
The court found the organisers of the financial pyramid guilty and sentenced them to prison terms ranging from 5 to 7 years. The apartment acquired with criminal proceeds was confiscated and transferred to the victims as compensation for damages under civil claims.
For context, law enforcement previously stopped the activities of the financial pyramid "Asar Baspana", which was disguised as a consumer cooperative.
During searches of company offices and the suspects' residences, law enforcement seized more than 1.2 billion tenge and 13 cars.
