In Aktau, fraudsters who posed as middlemen selling confiscated cars and property have been convicted.

According to the press service of the prosecutor's office in the Mangystau Region, two criminals devised a fraudulent scheme. They presented themselves as authorised representatives selling confiscated cars and property below market value.

For example, the fraudsters rented several expensive properties in Aktau. Claiming these were confiscated assets, they moved potential buyers in. They collected payment immediately, promising to process the legal documents later. However, the trusting buyers never received them.

As a result of the criminal activity, 39 people were affected. The material damage amounted to approximately 1 billion tenge.

Ultimately, the Aktau City Court found the defendants guilty of fraud and sentenced them to 9 and 10 years in prison.
