In court No. 2 in Aktobe, a verdict was handed down to emergency services dispatcher Adil Kalidolla, who was charged with negligence.
According to ORDA, in early June he failed to respond to a call for help. The call to the emergency services was made by 55-year-old Klara Sultanbayeva.
She was asking for help as she was being strangled from behind with a seatbelt by a supposed car buyer while sitting in the passenger seat. That day she had gone to sell her car, but never returned home alive.
"Sultanbayeva reported the attack, saying the call was not a hoax, not a joke, and that she was in real danger. She shouted loudly: 'They are killing me!', but operator Kalidolla, after taking the call, did nothing more than confirm the address, and did not call back to clarify the situation. He did not send help", the statement said.
At the trial, the dispatcher said he heard loud screams, but interpreted the call as a domestic dispute.
"The victim's sister, Madina Dukenbayeva, withdrew the previously filed claim for compensation for moral and material damages amounting to 5.3 million tenge. During the investigation, it emerged that the parties had reached a mediation agreement — after reconciliation, all damages were compensated to the victim's side", the statement said.
Ultimately, the court sentenced the accused to 2 years' imprisonment with a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for a period of 3 years.
