A resident of Kyzylorda has been awarded more than 1.5 million tenge in compensation from the clinic where her child had a tooth extracted.

According to Informburo.kz, the woman filed a lawsuit against the Central City Clinic. It is reported that the child's jaw swelled after visiting the dentist.

"The child was later operated on twice at the regional hospital with a diagnosis of acute purulent odontogenic phlegmon of the left lower jaw. Six months later, his jaw swelled again and the purulent wound would not heal, so the family had to pay for treatment and surgery in Almaty," the court said.

Meanwhile, officials from the Department of Medical and Pharmaceutical Control inspected the clinic and found that the medical professional had not complied with clinical protocols.

Furthermore, the tooth was extracted by a dental assistant with secondary education. It is reported that he did not conduct an examination or take an X-ray beforehand.

According to the mother, the child has been unable to sleep properly for almost two years. Doctors have concluded that he is now disabled.

In the end, the court ordered the dental clinic to pay more than 1.5 million tenge in compensation for moral harm and material damage.
