In court No. 2 of Ust-Kamenogorsk, a criminal case was heard against the head of the East Kazakhstan Region Ecology Department Daniyar Aliyev, who was accused of taking a bribe.
According to Ratel.kz, alongside him in the dock were the director of Frucom LLP, Konstantin Dluzhevsky, accused of giving a bribe, and a local resident Maksat Zhurkabayev, who was found to have acted as an intermediary in bribery.
The investigation established that Zhurkabayev received 10 million tenge from Dluzhevsky to pass on to Aliyev in exchange for resolving various issues for the LLP. However, in the end, the region's chief ecologist received only 5 million tenge from the intermediary.
The court found Daniyar Aliyev guilty and sentenced him to 4 years in prison with a lifetime ban from holding positions in the civil service.
Konstantin Dluzhevsky was sentenced to 4 years in prison with a ban on holding managerial positions in commercial organisations involved in exploration, extraction of precious metals or precious stones, or raw materials for a period of 5 years. He was also permanently deprived of the right to hold positions in the civil service.
Maksat Zhurkabayev received a sentence of 1.5 years in prison.
At the same time, the court issued a private ruling addressed to the prosecutor of the East Kazakhstan Region. He must determine where the remainder of the bribe money went.
It will be recalled that the detention of Daniyar Aliyev became known in December 2023. In November, it was reported that the Anti-Corruption Agency was conducting a pre-trial investigation into his deputy, Rauan Turarov.
In July of this year, Anti-Corruption officers detained the acting head of the East Kazakhstan Region Ecology Department, Mamai Butabayev, while he was receiving a bribe of 10 million tenge.
