The Inter-district Criminal Court of Astana has sentenced the chief accountant of the RSE "Phytosanitation" of the committee of the state inspectorate in the agro-industrial complex of the Ministry of Agriculture.
According to the press service of the department, she was found guilty of embezzling entrusted property on a large scale.
The investigation established that the defendant withdrew and appropriated 2.7 million tenge from the enterprise's account under the guise of a salary.
The court found the former accountant guilty and sentenced her to 7 years in prison. In addition, the convicted woman was banned from holding financially responsible positions in state organisations for 5 years.
It is worth recalling that in September 2023 it became known that the Anti-Corruption Service of Almaty had launched an investigation into the general director of the RSE "Phytosanitation". He was accused of creating and leading an organisation engaged in entrepreneurial activity, contrary to the established prohibition.
It was noted that from June 2022 to September 2023, the general director had provided this organisation with the premises of the Almaty regional branch of "Phytosanitation" free of charge. The damage to the state from his actions was estimated at 7.4 million tenge.
