Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport has been transferred to state ownership, the Akimat of Astana has announced.
According to the department's press service, the transfer took place due to the expiration of the trust management agreement signed with the Arab company LLP «Terminals Astana Airport Management».
«100% of the shares of JSC «Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport» have been transferred to the municipal ownership of the city of Astana. The trust management agreement, which expired on 7 January 2025, had been in effect since 7 November 2023», the statement said.
It is noted that preparations are currently underway to conclude a new trust management agreement between the capital's Akimat and LLP «Terminals Astana Airport Management».
Recall that in December 2024, it became known that the Vietnamese airline Sovico Group is planned to be offered the trust management of the airports of Turkistan and Kyzylorda. Deputy Minister of Transport Maksat Kaliakparov noted that this will happen after Sovico completes its deal with JSC «NWF «Samruk-Kazyna» to purchase «Qazaq Air».
