The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources has reviewed the submission from the Anti-Corruption Service regarding the «Ertis Ormany» case.

"The submission is aimed at eliminating the causes and conditions that facilitated the commission of corruption offences in the nature reserve", the press service of Anti-Cor reported.

It is reported that an organised criminal group, headed by the reserve's general director, is suspected of stealing timber through the illegal sale of wood under the guise of industrial and fuel firewood.

It is reported that the criminal actions of the OCG caused the state damages amounting to more than 150 million tenge.

"The Ministry has been recommended to take comprehensive measures to eliminate corruption risks, including through the introduction of digitalisation of forest fund inventory and protection processes. The OCG members are in custody. The pre-trial investigation has been completed", the statement said.

Recall that in January, the head of the State Forest Nature Reserve «Ertis Ormany», Arman Bektemirov, was detained. He is suspected of organising a corruption scheme, as well as illegal logging and sale of timber.

It was also reported that Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov called illegal loggers enemies of the state. The head of government ordered strict control over the observance of law and order in the territory of the «Semey Ormany» forest nature reserve, where a major fire occurred in June last year. It claimed the lives of 14 employees. The fire destroyed more than 63,000 hectares of unique relict pine forest. The damage exceeded 160 billion tenge.
