The Anti-Corruption Agency will check a report about the sale of an expensive mansion belonging to the wife of the former deputy head of the department.

The Anti-Corruption Service has commented on reports that the wife of former deputy head of the agency Nurlan Shabdar has put a mansion in Almaty up for sale for more than 2 billion tenge.

According to Zakon.kz, the first deputy chairman of the Anti-Corruption Service, Ulan Sarkulov, said that the relevant departments are currently looking into the matter.

"He did not actually answer whether this information is true, but noted the need to respect the right to private property. And he then promised that an independent legal assessment of what happened would be carried out", the journalists reported.

For context, information recently appeared online that the wife of former deputy head of the Anti-Corruption Service and ex-head of the agency in the Aktobe region, Nurlan ShabdarMeruyert Kisamiyeva — had put the family mansion in Almaty up for sale for 2.025 billion tenge
