The Prosecutor's Office of the Zharkain District of the Akmola Region uncovered the embezzlement of funds on an especially large scale at the district House of Culture.
According to the press service of the department, the former accountant of the enterprise, abusing her official position, systematically embezzled funds from the House of Culture. The damage amounted to more than 30 million tenge.
As a result, the court sentenced the woman to 6 years of imprisonment, to be served in a medium-security correctional facility. She was also banned from holding financially responsible positions in state and quasi-state organisations for a period of 7 years.
The court also fully granted the enterprise's civil claim for compensation of the damage caused.
Recall that earlier, it was reported that the chief accountant of the Kyzylorda Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital is suspected of embezzling funds by inflating the purchase price of medical beds.
It was noted that the hospital had entered into a contract with a local entrepreneur to purchase 220 medical beds with a total cost of 259 million tenge. The price of one bed was 1.2 million tenge. At the same time, it turned out that the actual purchase price of one bed did not exceed 460,000 tenge — three times lower than the declared amount. Thus, the amount of unjustifiably inflated expenses totalled 129 million tenge.
