More than 9,000 Kazakh citizens have been granted a special social payment.

"From 1 January 2024, on the instructions of the Head of State, a special social payment was introduced in Kazakhstan as part of systemic measures to improve the social protection of workers employed in hazardous working conditions", the government press service reported.

It should be recalled that the mandatory conditions for granting the special payment are reaching the age of 55 and having pension contributions in the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund (UAPF) for at least 7 years.

To date, 9,145 citizens who have worked for a long time in hazardous working conditions have been awarded a total of 1.7 billion tenge.

The payments are made from four sources – the republican budget, the UAPF, the employer, and a life insurance company.

The highest number of applicants for the special payment were registered in: Karaganda (1,696 people), Kostanay (1,180 people), East Kazakhstan (1,132 people), Pavlodar (1,015 people), Aktobe (599 people), Akmola (566 people) regions and the Abai region (505 people). The average amount of such payments will be around 208,000 tenge.

"Workers can move to jobs with less hazardous conditions, while continuing to receive both their salary and the special payment. Alternatively, they can retire, receiving the payment until they are eligible for a pension", the statement said.
