The former director of the Petropavlovsk Heavy Engineering Plant has been sentenced.
According to the press service of the AFM, in addition to him, the executive director of the plant and a businessman who supplied engines and gyroscopic units under a state defence order were also in the dock.
It is reported that in 2022, the plant received an order from the Ministry of Defence to repair military equipment. The company entered into a contract with the businessman for the supply of spare parts worth a total of 283.3 million tenge.
As it became known, the general director later received a bribe from the businessman through the executive director amounting to $100,000 (approximately 45 million tenge). The bribe was intended to ensure the unhindered signing of work completion certificates and general patronage.
As a result, the court found the plant's general director guilty of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale and sentenced him to 11 years in prison. The executive director received 4 years in prison for mediation.
Furthermore, an apartment valued at 40 million tenge was confiscated to state revenue. The remaining amount of 5 million tenge was recovered from the convicted individuals in equal shares.
