A former Almaty police investigator has been convicted of covering up crimes
In Almaty, a court found a former police investigator guilty of deliberately failing to register 14 crimes, thereby violating the procedure for recording criminal offences. His actions were classified under part 2 of Article 433 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The court sentenced him to 2 years of restricted freedom, a 3-year ban from public service, and stripped him of his special rank of "police lieutenant".
