The KNB has stopped over a thousand attempts to illegally export fuel from Kazakhstan.

At checkpoints across the state border of Kazakhstan, from 1 to 21 July, 1,342 attempts to illegally export fuels and lubricants were recorded. The total volume of petroleum products seized during these attempts exceeded 112 tonnes.

WHAT HAPPENED

The Border Service of the Committee for National Security (KNB) continues to take measures to prevent the illegal export of petroleum products across the state border.

During the period from 1 to 21 July, 1,342 attempts to illegally move fuels and lubricants were registered at checkpoints, with a total volume of over 112 tonnes.

WHAT MEASURES WERE TAKEN

Those responsible have been held to account in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The KNB noted that the measures being taken are aimed at ensuring the country's energy security and preventing the shadow circulation of fuels and lubricants.

The department also reported that work in this area is ongoing.

CONTEXT

Earlier, the Agency for Financial Monitoring (AFM) reported that since the beginning of 2026, 712 attempts to illegally export fuels and lubricants have been prevented, and 8 pre-trial investigations have been launched into cases of illegal trafficking and smuggling of petroleum products.

It was also reported that an illegal mini-refinery was uncovered in the Mangystau Region, the activities of groups involved in fuel smuggling were disrupted, and 8 railway tankers containing illegal petrol were seized at the Turksib station.
