The Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan rejected the arbitration arguments regarding the NCOC fine.
The Ministry of Justice of Kazakhstan stated that the decision of the Kazakhstani court regarding the recovery of an environmental fine from the North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) is subject to voluntary compliance until 20 July 2026. The department also reported that the interim protective measure of the UNCITRAL commercial arbitration does not have automatic legal force within the country's territory.
