The planned maintenance of the Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant (PНХЗ), scheduled for 2026, has been postponed to 2027. The decision is linked to the need to maintain stable fuel production during a period of heightened seasonal demand.
WHY THE MAINTENANCE WAS POSTPONED
According to JSC NC KazMunayGas (KMG), the plant will continue operating to ensure an uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to the domestic market.
The company explained that postponing the maintenance is intended to minimise the risk of localised shortages of petrol and other fuels and lubricants during the period of high demand.
CONTEXT
Earlier in Kazakhstan, numerous complaints were received from drivers about problems with their cars after refuelling with AI-95 and AI-98 petrol. In response to citizens' appeals, quality checks on automotive petrol were carried out.
As part of one such check, tests of arbitration samples conducted on 25 August 2026 at the Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant (PНХЗ) confirmed that the samples studied met the established requirements.
According to the PНХЗ press service, the independent laboratory SGS Kazakhstan confirmed that the samples complied with GOST 32513-2013. The enterprise also reported that the samples studied met the requirements of the technical regulation of the Customs Union, TR CU 013/2011.
Meanwhile, quality studies of petrol continue in various regions of Kazakhstan. At present, 12 citizens' appeals are being processed, and test purchases of fuel have been carried out at 17 petrol stations in Almaty, the Almaty region, the Abai region, and the Zhambyl region.
