The General Director of MIA "KazTAG" Asset Mataev has been detained in Almaty on suspicion of hooliganism following a night-time conflict near a shopping centre. According to the defence, he sustained injuries and underwent a forensic medical examination.
According to lawyer Rena Kerimova, Asset Mataev was detained by police officers and is currently a suspect.
WHAT WAS PREVIOUSLY REPORTED ABOUT THE CASE
Earlier, the FBRC reported that a scuffle involving Asset Mataev and his acquaintance occurred near Dostyk Plaza in Almaty. The information was received through an anonymous editorial bot and had no official confirmation at the time of publication.
WHAT IS KNOWN SO FAR
According to the defence's position, the incident occurred at night after leaving a bar on Dostyk Avenue. A conflict arose between Asset Mataev and a group of previously unknown people, which escalated into a fight.
According to Mataev himself, he and his acquaintance were attacked by a group of five to six people.
The examination results recorded head injuries, including an open wound and fractures in the frontal sinus area.
THE DEFENCE'S POSITION
Lawyer Rena Kerimova stated that, according to her client's version, there was a provocation by unknown individuals.
She also clarified that other lawyers had already joined the defence, as she was unable to arrive immediately at the police station of the Medeu District.
CLASSIFICATION OF THE CASE
According to the defence, the pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan ("Hooliganism").
