The Government of Kazakhstan has allocated 1 billion tenge for the implementation of a programme to provide regions with subsidised grain for the production of social bread. The supply mechanism continues to operate in order to stabilise prices for this type of product.

HOW THE PROGRAMME WORKS

Providing regions with subsidised grain remains one of the tools for stabilising prices for social bread. On the instruction of the Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin, the implementation of the supply mechanism through JSC "Food Contract Corporation" continues.

1 billion tenge has been allocated for the implementation of the programme. The initial need of the regions is estimated at 100,000 tonnes of subsidised grain.

WHICH REGIONS HAVE ALREADY JOINED

Contracts for grain supply have already been signed by Aktobe, West Kazakhstan, Pavlodar and Turkistan regions, as well as the city of Astana.

It is also reported that Mangystau region is finalising the procedure for signing the corresponding contract.

WHAT THE FUNDS ARE ALLOCATED FOR

The mechanism for supplying subsidised grain is used as a separate tool for price stabilisation. At the same time, local akimats have been instructed to step up efforts to saturate the domestic market, ensure compliance with legislation in the area of pricing, increase the number of agricultural fairs, and take additional measures to prevent unjustified price increases.
