Entrepreneur and blogger Beibit Alibekov has stated that he does not share the views of his father Bakhyt Alibekov, whose Facebook posts sparked widespread discussion and criticism across Kazakh social media. He stressed that he considers himself and his father to be two independent individuals and that he should not be held accountable for his father's words and actions.
WHAT SPARKED THE DISCUSSION
Users on Threads drew attention to the harsh remarks made by Bakhyt Alibekov about the Russian language, the disputes surrounding the monument to Alexander Pushkin, Kazakhs, and the Golden Horde.
In his posts on Facebook, the elder Alibekov touched on topics including the Russian language, Kazakhs and national identity, the history of the Golden Horde, decisions made by the Kazakh authorities, as well as Russia and the events of 2022. Some posts also addressed social and everyday matters.
HOW BEIBIT ALIBEKOV RESPONDED
Amid the criticism, Beibit Alibekov stated that he had never supported his father's views and had previously spoken openly about this.
"My father and I are two different people. Every person has the right to their own views and opinions. But I can only answer for my own words, actions and personal stance," the blogger wrote on Threads.
Beibit Alibekov specifically noted that children should not be held responsible for the words or actions of their parents, just as parents should not be held responsible for the actions of their adult children.
His comment therefore primarily concerns the separation of personal views from the public statements of another adult.
WHAT IS KNOWN ABOUT BAKHYT ALIBEKOV'S REACTION
Meanwhile, discussion continued on social media about the content of his posts. Some users deemed the remarks offensive, while other commentators pointed out that certain words may have referred to specific individuals and their positions rather than to the people as a whole.
Bakhyt Alibekov himself responded to the discussion of his posts by sharing a phrase about the TV programme "In the World of Animals".
